Previous FASTEST TIME

Barely 6 months ago, Gurun-born Muhaizar who is based in Sungai Udang, Melaka clocked 2:31.52 for his third placing in the 42km run – which ended Malaysia’s 44-year wait for a medal in men’s marathon after M. Solaimuthu’s bronze in 1973 in Singapore.

🇲🇾 The BEST Marathoner 🏃💨

At the elite level, shaving seconds let alone minutes off the finish times takes so much training, discipline, talent, belief and support. Muhaizar’s Tokyo Marathon finish time is an amazing sporting achievement because he has slashed almost 3 minutes from his previous best which was previously good enough to win SEA Games 2017 bronze.

To top it all, Muhaizar proves that cold weather in Tokyo is not an excuse for runners from hot and humid countries to fail. In fact, in the build up to Tokyo Marathon, Muhaizar trained locally in Cameron Highlands, and his Tokyo trip was sponsored by ASICS Malaysia.

INSPIRING A Whole Nation

Malaysia runners may not be able to compete against the World’s Best Kenyans, but Muhaizar’s recent multiple record-breaking achievements certainly gives our nation something to cheer about, and moreover, it inspires the youth and community runners to keep on believing in themselves no matter how hard the challenges ahead.
