“Hello 998, We Got Ourselves An Emergency!”

The Disappearance Of Pisho

Yesterday, late afternoon, our kitty Pisho went missing without a trace! We searched up and down our streets while calling his name. Pisho knows his name, and being a talkative cat, we expected to hear his familiar voice responding to us. Unfortunately, there were no sign of our furkid anywhere.

Sleepless Night

As night fell, our neighborhood search became more frantic. Our fear for Pisho’s safety increased as we started imagining Pisho being injured and helpless in a cold place.

Clueless Cat

Being an indoor juvenile kitty, we knew that Pisho would not be able to find his own way home nor does he have the skills to survive outdoor overnight.

It was getting late, but we were too worried to sleep. I tried to remain calm by holding on to the hope that perhaps, a good Samaritan had found and kept Pisho. Whatever the case, I was prepared for a full search as soon as daylight.

Next Morning

“Pisho is up the neighbour’s tree!” exclaimed the Missus.

“Wait, I’ll get the ladder,” I replied.

Sure enough our little Pisho was precariously perched 30 feet up a tree. It was too high to reach with the ladder, and the tree was too fragile to be climbed!

Emergency Rescue

In sheer desperation, we called the fire brigade for help. Within 20 minutes one huge fire truck and an accompanying ambulance had reached our home.

One young fireman quickly shot up the tree, but he was told to come back down by his big chief who was concerned that the bending tree was about to snap under his weight.

The second rescue attempt involved another fireman climbing up their own long ladder. It was a tense moment, watching the fireman reaching for the nervous Pisho. Will Pisho jump? By this time, several neighbours were witnessing the whole drama unfold like a bad reality TV episode.

Final Act

After several attempts, the fireman managed to grab our furkid and he passed Pisho to me who was standing on my neighbour’s 2nd Floor balcony, directly underneath. I released a big sigh of relief as I clutched Pisho in my arms.

The whole episode was a dramatic and tense affair, and I could not imagine how much more intense it would be, if it was a real fire rescue with human lives in danger! However, I can be sure of one thing, these brave fireman really have our backs when we need them most. They are my real-life Heroes….
