Editor’s Note

This is my first run in Bangi, and thanks to the organiser, CentriSoh Malaysia for the invitation to the SECOND EDITION of Bangi Wonderland Nature Run (BWNR).

rpt

There were TWO race kit collection dates and venues, and I chose to pick mine up at the first one at Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC), Jalan Ampang on 29th Sep 2018 rather than go all the way to the race venue on race eve.

There was a plenty of free parking space available right in front of the Bangi Wonderland Theme Park on RACE Morning.

When I arrived at the start line, I was glad to see Amelia who is always cheerful and full of energy.

Good to see an ‘old’, familiar face of Jason who was busy doing the camera work.

The 10km and 3.5km runners were flagged off at 7am & 7:15am respectively by Mr. Steven Chang who is the GM of Bangi Wonderland Theme Park & Resort.

cof

We ran  the first 1km on the road, before turning into a palm oil estate which belongs to UPM.

Inside the forest reserve, the surface of the pebbled dirt track was fairly even, and it was certainly easy on the trampling feet.

cof

However, there were endless rolling hills to test the runner’s uphill and downhill capacity.

cof

Since no plastic cups were allowed inside the nature forest, we had to bring our own bottles or cups to refill at the water stations.

I saw one runner drinking water which was poured into their cupped hands by the volunteers.

btroz

The weather was not hot, but the air in the forest reserve was pretty humid as the trees had blocked any wind currents, except where the paths & spaces were wider.

So, it was quite a relief to return back to the road for the final 1km where we could feel the morning breeze again.

After the Finish Line, the runners were treated to packs of nasi lemak and juicy slices of freshly-cut watermelons for breakfast.

There were also a couple of food trucks offering hungry runners more food & drink choices.

rbtoz

Having observed the happy crowd, I noticed a good mix of families running together, regular runners, novices and even a large group of corporate runners who were of all ages.

oznor

This was a well-organised event which was an enjoyable outing for the participants, and I’m sure many will make use of their free entrance ticket to the theme park, especially the runners with kids.

If you want to join the next BWNR 3.0, then you ought to block the 6th October 2019 in your diary now…
