BY-ELECTION CLASH
All eyes will be on Port Dickson on Saturday, 13th October 2018, where an important by-election will take place. As a result, the Event Organisers were very anxious that the local authorities (Majlis Perbandaran Port Dickson & PDRM) might cancel the Avillion Cultural Ride 2018 which is scheduled to be held the day after the by-election.
ANXIOUS MOMENTS
So, there was some hectic last-minute behind the scenes scrambling and negotiations among the event STAKEHOLDERS, MPPD & PDRM to decide if ACR2018 should be allowed to proceed.
UTTER RELIEF
On the 11th hour, all concerned parties agreed that ACR2018 shall be held as planned, after considering the overall safety & convenience of the public and of the event participants. I think the unusually low-key canvassing by the nominated candidates did help ACR’s case. Nevertheless, It was such a close call, and it was like being given a second life! To show their appreciation, I believe that the event organisers and partners are now more determined to put on an even better show come Race Day for the participants, the Port Dickson community and for the love of Sports.

Upon hearing this great news, I was happy to drive all the way to Port Dickson from Shah Alam to attend the ACR2018 Press Conference, and offer as much support as I could in the capacity of both a Blogger and Participant…

Mr. Prakash (Director of Operations, AVILLION Port Dickson) conducted the Press Conference, together with Avillion Hotel Group’s Dato’ Faisal and Puan Yulina.
What impressed me most was how much planning, effort and resources the Avillion Admiral Cove staff are putting into their event in order to make it the most enjoyable outing for the expected visiting riders.
As En. Rahzuan (ACR2018 Organising Committee Head) enthusiastically explained, “We want Avillion Cultural Ride to be the best cycling event, and at the same time, to promote Avillion Admiral Cove & Port Dickson as the top destination for Cyclists & Visitors. “
Of course, Avillion Hotel Group’s grand plans for ACR is only possible with the help of its main SPONSOR Bank Muamalat and the many important event partners, and the local community.

“This year, we have upgraded the quality of the event jerseys and the medals,” exclaimed Puan Yulina proudly.
I tried on the cycling jersey firsthand, and I can tell you that not only is its design and colours eye-catching, but it fits like a glove!
Furthermore, the high quality, design and material of the finisher medals were topnotch and worthy of any top class sports event. “These medals are even better than the SUKMA ones,” quipped someone. Even more surprising, there are 3 customised medals for all 3 Distance categories of Endurance Ride (160km), Scenic Ride (60km), and Fun Ride (30km).

Press Release: Avillion Cultural Ride 2018 presented by Bank MUAMALAT.
Avillion Hotel Group together with Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad & our group of sponsors proudly announce that the much-anticipated coastal cycling event is back! The exciting cycling event is set to take place on 14th October 2018, Sunday at Avillion Admiral Cove.
The Avillion Coastal Ride presented by Bank Muamalat offers 3 categories: 30km Fun Ride, 60km Scenic Ride and 160km Endurance Ride. The scenic rides cater to bicycles of all disciplines, including road bikes, mountain bikes, folding bikes and all other bicycles. The rides will start & end at Avillion Admiral Cove Port Dickson.
The event participants are entitled to receive Exclusive Cycling T-shirt, Finisher’s Medal, Meal, Personal Insurance, E-Certificate and a chance to win attractive lucky draw prizes. There will also be special prizes for teams with most entries and best jersey for team or individual.
