MAKNA FOUNDER’S NIGHT RUN 2017
Editor’s Note : MAKNA (Majlis Kanser National) or National Cancer Council Of Malaysia is a Not-For-Profit Social Enterprise founded in 1994 by Dato’ Mohd Farid Ariffin after being inspired by his own son’s fight and struggles with cancer.
MAKNA mission is “To mobilise resources in order to provide curative, preventive, research and support services to cancer patients and their families, high-risk groups and the general public, in Malaysia and the world.” In particular, MAKNA provides financial assistance, as well as prosthesis, medical equipment (eg Colonic Starter, Colostomy Bag), mattresses, and such vital items for cancer patients.
🔔Cancer is the second biggest killer in our society; next to only cardiovascular disease.
Cancer is a lifestyle disease which means that how we lead our everyday lives can determine our risk exposure to this horrific disease. This is part of the reason why MAKNA has decided to organise the MAKNA Founder’s Night Run on 30th September 2017 in order to promote a healthy lifestyle and at the same time, through this event, MAKNA aims to create greater public awareness of Cancer and rally support for Cancer Patients. MAKNA General Manager Mr. Vemanna said, “We choose to organise a running event because running is not costly and it is highly accessible to a broad spectrum of the Public.”
Third Time Running : MAKNA has successfully organised a run before in 2013 and 2014, and the last one was attended by 5,000 runners. This time, MAKNA hopes to draw another 5,000 participants with the added distance of 21km under a new Competitive Category together with their existing 12km and 5km Fun Run Categories. So, we can expect a good mixture of elite and community runners coming together for a healthy and fun activity, while supporting an IMPORTANT CAUSE.

a. All Malaysian and expatriates who have Malaysian working permit and also his/her immediate family members.
b. Category A – D (21KM) are open to participants who are aged 18 years and above.
c. Category E (12KM) is open to participants who are aged 16 years and above.
d. Participants who are aged 7 years and above are eligible to take part within Category F – Fun Run.
e. Parents are allowed to bring along their children below the age of 7 within the 5km Fun Run at their own risk. Parents must take full responsibility of their children’s well-being pre, during and after MAKNA Founder’s Night Run 2017. NO registration is required for children aged below 7 years and therefore they will not be entitled for t-shirt, finisher medal, certificate and etc. Organizer cannot be held responsible for the safety and wellbeing of any child below the age of 7 years.
II. MAKNA Founder’s Night Run 2017 shall be conducted under a set of competition rules.
Age qualification will be taken as of 31st December 2017.

All prize winners must produce their identity card or passport for age verification.
Winners must ensure to collect their prizes after the race and upon announcement of results.
All uncollected prizes will be forfeited.
Registration. Everyone needs to register via Online Registration at http://www.msports.com.my
Corporate Registration. MAKNA welcomes the support of corporates companies to make MAKNA Founder’s Night Run 2017, an initiative to drive cancer awareness program via sports, a success. We welcome all corporates to send a team of 10 runners to participate in MAKNA Founder’s Night Run 2017 for a fee of RM3,000. The 10 runners can participate in any one of the categories offered. i. Any online registration that is not followed with online payment will become invalid registration. Therefore, please ensure to pay online when you register online.
ii. No refund will be made for wrongful or multiple registration.
iii. Substitution and changing of categories is NOT allowed, so please select the category you’re eligible to sign up according to the age qualification. Otherwise you will have to re-register.
iv. Postal entries are not accepted.
v. The decision of the Competition Committee is final when accepting entries. The organizers have the right to refuse an entry without having to disclose a reason.
Race Pack. Race pack consists of Running Tee, a number bib, safety pins and race guide (if any). Please be advised that the quantity of the Running Tees’ ordered according to sizes are limited, therefore the distribution shall be carried out on first-come, first-served basis.
Race Pack Collection. Round 1. Date : Sat 23rd & Sun 24th September 2017 Time : 10.00am – 6.00pm Venue : LG, Viva Home Shopping Mall. 85, Jalan Loke Yew, 55200 Kuala Lumpur.
Round 2. Date : Fri 29th September 2017 Time : 10.00am – 6.00pm Venue : Auditorium Cempakasari lobby, Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya, Persiaran Perdana, Presint 3, 62675 Putrajaya.
I. There will be NO distribution of race packs on race day.
II. All the race packs without any special arrangement with the organizer and not collected during the stipulated collection date, will be deemed as unwanted and the Organizers shall be at liberty to dispose or re-distribute them accordingly.
III. Any late collection of race pack(s) without prior agreement/arrangement with the organizer will be charged RM 10.00 per race pack as the late collection fee. So, please ensure to collect the race pack on the stipulated collection days.
IV. For collection of 10 race pack and above, please email your bulk collection name list (full name and IC number of each participant) to email@example.com latest by Monday 18th September 2017. Please ensure to submit the authorization letter for each participant listed in the bulk collection name list at the bulk collection counter on the race pack collection day. V. Foreigners and outstation runners whom resides outside Klang Valley (Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Putrajaya & Cyberjaya)) who require special arrangement for race pack collection, please drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org latest by Monday 18th September 2017.
Race Pack Delivery. Race Pack Delivery to your home/office will be provided at RM 10 per race pack for major town/cities in WEST MALAYSIA only. Please provide an address whereby there will be someone to receive your race pack as the delivery will take place, Mon to Fri from 9.00am to 6.00pm (during working hours). We advise for your good self to state your office address as the preferred delivery address if you will be at work during the delivery duration.
Result. The results of the individual categories (A – D) will be verified by the organizing committee and their decision is final.
E-Certificates will be awarded to all the participants who complete the 21km and 12km only.
The e-certificate will be made available 7 days after the event day.
All 5km runners will receive their finisher certificate at the finish line. No claims will be entertained thereafter.
Finisher Medal. Finisher Medals will be distributed at the finish line to all participants.

Registration Closing Date. Wednesday 30th August 2017 or upon reaching the maximum of 5,000 participants.
Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the organizers to ensure the participants safety, participants are strongly encouraged to go for a medical examination and/or consult their medical practitioner prior to registration and before the actual race day. The organizers reserve the right to delay the commencement of the race in the event of heavy rain or thunder storm or extreme weather condition. Should the heavy rain, thunder storm or extreme weather condition persist after delay, the organizers reserve the right to cancel the race without any refund. In the event of heavy rain or thunder storm or catastrophic or natural disaster resulting in a postponement or cancellation of the above event, the organisers shall not be held responsible for any claims whatsoever in any form made by any individual or parties concerned. The organizers reserve the right to use any photograph (including those of participants), motion pictures, recordings, or any other media records of the event taken before, during and after the event, for any legitimate purpose including commercial advertising and distribution to sponsors.
