Editor’s Note
I participated in the inaugural Kedah Century 2015, and as you can read in my article, “160km Ride Through Kedah Has Much To Offer” which was published in The Star newspaper, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Kedah and the ride, itself. Therefore, I am looking forward to joining this year’s Kedah Century Trans-Asean Express which will have a totally new route. Furthermore, the organisers have spiced things up by including a unique border crossing stage where riders will be able to experience 30km of Thai roads before crossing back into Malaysia. So, I expect lots of new and exciting cycling experience, but what will never change is the warm hospitality of the Kedah folks and their special food culture. Kedah Century offers an unforgettable ride through striking green rice fields, water canal crossings, and the local cross-winds of the flat plains will test the cyclist’s riding strength and determination. Indeed, there are many interesting cultural traditions in Kedah such as rice-growing and kite-flying which forms part of the rich tapestry of our beautiful countryside – there’s no other ride like it!
