Earth Day Run 2016 – Fourth Edition

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES

Kuala Lumpur International Earth Day Run started in 2013 by Asia World Events to celebrate Earth Day which is held annually on 22nd April in 192 countries to demonstrate global support for environmental protection. The global theme for 2016 is ‘Trees for the Earth’.  This green campaign is to help combat climate change. By planting more trees, cities around the world will have a higher level of oxygen in the air, thus helping us to breathe clean air. Not only does trees give us clean air, it helps build communities achieve long-term economic and environmental sustainability and provide food, energy and income.

Earth Day Run 2016 (EDR 2016) is about encouraging all Malaysians to lead a healthy lifestyle, encouraging positive actions and supporting a Green KL City, promoting sustainability in business practices, supporting inclusive sustainable development goals, highlighting climate change issues and environmental care for future generations.

A GLOBAL MOVEMENT

EDR 2016 invite Runners of all abilities and background (13-year old & above) for a fun 10km Run in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and be part of an important global movement to appreciate and to support our natural environment against the growing threat of global warming. Come for the Run and Stay for the Cause.
