The Colour Run Singapore Shutdown

Colour Run Shutdown!

On 29/Jun/2015, I wrote a piece entitled “Why The Color Run Should Be Scrapped”.
https://gusghani.wordpress.com/?s=colour+run&submit=Search
At that time, I was not at all convinced by the Colour Run franchise owner’s official statement that their chemical-powdered runs are completely safe. Today, CIMB Bank Singapore showed similar safety concerns by pulling-out their sponsorship for the Colour Run to be held in Singapore this weekend ( Read About It ). Yes, it will mean a significant monetary loss to the parties directly involved in this event. However, I back the title sponsor CIMB Bank 110% in their decision to back-out because unless, every safety risk can be mitigated, any public event, big or small, should never be considered, let alone be staged. CIMB’s bold decision will send a strong message to other event organisers, local and foreign ones, to always consider the participants’s safety first ahead of any other consideration, such as monetary gains.
So, the next time that you have any concern about the safety issue of any public events, sports events or otherwise, just do what I did and ask the organiser themselves about it. If their answers are unsatisfactory, then why not share your opinion with the rest of the world. Who knows? Your action might save someone’s life and prevent injuries to innocent lives.
What about The Color Run in Malaysia? It is only logical that CIMB Bank will also pull-out its sponsorship for the Malaysia edition too, right? Nobody likes to see an event cancelled, but we hate accidents and disasters more! Do Malaysian customers deserve the same level of consumer protection as our Singaporean counterparts. Heck, yes!! So, let us wait for the official decision by The Color Run 2015 (Malaysia). I hope they will make the right choice, the only choice!
To my surprise, I only noticed today that the last posting on The Color Run Malaysia FB page was on the 29th June 2015 ( see photo ) and on The Color Run Malaysia official website, there is only a mention that KL edition is “Coming Soon”.
No point speculating further until we get some official announcement from CIMB Bank which should be anytime now.
